The Importance of Learning a Language

Learning an additional language provides cognitive and academic benefits, fosters cultural and global awareness, and improves college and career prospects. These skills empower students to communicate effectively and thrive in diverse environments.

 Our World Language Options 

Your Catholic School can offer world languages without adding staff. Choose from two options to help students explore and master the most widely spoken languages in the world.

OPTION 1

Core

Semester-Length Courses

  • Grades: K–12, including Honors and AP®
  • Languages: American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Latin, Spanish
  • Course Structure: Course material for five days a week, which can be completed independently or with a virtual teacher. Two semester-length courses equal a full school year.

OPTION 2

Elective

1- or 2-Day-a-Week Courses

  • Grades: 5–8
  • Languages: French and Spanish
  • Course Structure: This “lighter” language elective that gives students exposure to new places and experiences. A virtual teacher conducts the classes each week.
    • Two-day weekly model includes two thematic units and one story-based unit for a total of 60 lessons over the school year.
    • One-day weekly model covers two thematic units during the full school year.
